SCQC Grade School Academic Programs

The educational efforts of Siena College Grade School are premised on the belief that teaching facilitates the growth of child in Christian Personhood through encounter experiences. Through this growth, the child will be able to establish his relationship with Christ, our loving Father, and with his fellowmen.

Education must equip young with knowledge, skills, habits and values that will contribute to their formation into true Christian and responsible citizens of our country. Through its curriculum, the Siena College QC High School Development aims to form the student into a well-integrated person who is able to pursue a professional course in college so that s/he will be able to find his/her place in life to serve the community and the country.

Admission Requirements

Age Requirement
Nursery - at least 3 years old by June of the academic year.
Kindergarten A - at least 4 years old by June of the academic year.
Kindergaten B - at least 5 years by June of the academic year.
Grade 1 - at least 6 years by June of the academic year.

Photocopies of the following:
a. Birth Certificate
b. Baptismal Certificate
c. Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR), for foreign students.

Other Requirements:
a. Two (2) I.D. pictures
b. Written test
c. Oral Interview

Admission in other Grade Levels :
Admission to Grades 2 to 5 is highly dependent on the available slots in these levels.

The requirements are :
a. Photocopy of Birth Certificate
b. Photocopy of Baptismal Certificate
c. Photocopy of the current Report Card which includes at least the grades
in the second or third grading periods with an average of 82%
for grades 1, 2, & 3, and 83% for grades 4 and 5.
d. Certificate of Good Moral Character signed by the Principal
or the Guidance Counselor.
e. Two latest I.D. pictures to be attached to the application form.
f.  Application and entrance test fees.
g. Psychological record of transferee from the guidance office, if needed.

RELIGION
The center of reference of all curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities in the Grade school Department. Christian values are integrated in academic subjects and the children are prepared for and encouraged to participate in meaningful liturgical celebrations for children. The children are also encouraged to get involved in extension services to community through the school's social action program.

The formation of well-integrated Christian through the acquisition and practice of Christian virtues and moral values is the major goal of this program. By means of the Religion program, children are given the fundamental knowledge of moral and religious training; and it is expected that they begin to possess deep spiritual, moral and emotional and intellectual values acquired by the living and loving experience of God's presence in the sacraments, liturgy, and scriptures as well as in persons and event; have a social conscience to realize that one's time and talents must be shared with others, hence, be socially involved in line with the teachings of St. Dominic, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Thomas Aquinas and Mother Francisca del Espiritu Santo; encounter Christ as a person and experience His loving challenge to share His healing and liberating mission, hence, are now answering His call and participating in His mission; be free, responsible, and loving persons; and know and accept their personal worth and at the same time respect and accept the gifts and weaknesses of their neighbor.

LANGUAGE ARTS - ENGLISH / FILIPINO
This subject provides for the development of competencies in listening, speaking, reading, writing and thinking skills in Filipino and English. Listening competencies includes such skills as auditory discrimination and comprehensions, speaking, pronunciation, use of expressions and grammatical structures, reading vocabulary development, recognition, comprehension and study skills, writing, spelling, handwriting skills, composition and mechanics. For effective teaching, the specific skills constituting these competencies shall be developed in communication situations using many and varied materials to the point of mastery.

MATHEMATICS
Mathematics is an expression of God's infinity and understanding of members in relation to the problems in the Philippines.

In grades 1, 2, 3, this subject includes the mastery of the four fundamental operations, fractions, metric and local measurements. The use of money and their application to practical problems based on activities of real life are tackled.

In grades 4, 5 and 6, the child is expected to conceptualize the meaning of ratio and proportion, angles, planes and spatial figure and scales, maps and graphs.

Besides further development of the basic mathematical skills, the child is expected to solve problems related to business and industrial activities in the community.

SCIENCE & HEALTH
This program aims to help the child gain a functional understanding of science concepts and principles linked with real life situation, acquire science as well as scientific attitudes and values needed in solving everyday problems pertaining to health and sanitation, nutrition, food production, and the environment and its conservation.

Through this course, pupils will become aware and have concern for the beauty and wonder of God's creation, the manifestation of God's loving providence, from which they derive satisfaction and enjoyment for their needs and desires. Their desire for the advancement of science and technology may be inspired by the lives of the scientists who works gave benefits to mankind.

With the knowledge of the present conditions of the world and of our country, pupils may take part actually in carrying out some of the various projects and programs of the government for the betterment of his brothers and sisters.

SIBIKA AT KULTURA
Deals with the study of the relationship of man to society and government: his role, duties and responsibilities, rights and privileges as citizen of his country and the world. It also deals with the development of moral and spiritual values, pride in one's cultural heritage, proper nutrition and desirable health habits. It further deals with the study of evolution of human society with the individual as the central figure on this process of evolution, i.e., ideas and events in the past share the present and how man manages the present in order to attain a desired future; and since man is the central figure in this evolution, he must within a supportive environment, strive to develop his human potential, in order for him to live effectively in his physical, social, economic, political and cultural environment. It is also a study of man as an epitome of God and other creatures.

Through deep understanding of history, the pupils will be able to develop better Filipino values and attitudes based upon civic and Christian teachings thus becoming worthy and responsible citizens of the community of man and of the community of God.

Together with History and Geography, Civics provides varied experiences in which the learner develops feelings of pride, identity and loyalty to the country and nation transcending his pride in identity with and loyalty to his family, tribe and region.

MUSIC, ARTS & PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The music program helps develop the children's interest in Music as a form of lasting enjoyment, a means of relaxation and worthy occupation in leisure time. It also aims to develop an understanding of the contribution of Music to the civilization of the world and to the service of the church. It also aims to develop.

HOME ECONOMICS & LIVELIHOOD EDUCATION
Focuses on the development of responsible and worthy home membership that will lead into strengthening of the family. The activities shall emphasize the development of desirable work attitudes, basic work skills and habits through learning situations relevant to chores at home, school and community and the production of useful materials with the use of local products.

COMPUTER EDUCATION
Helps the children acquire computer literacy in a systematic and enjoyable manner and helps stimulate their logical thinking though simple programming concepts. It aims to give the children fundamental knowledge that will eventually help them participate in a highly technological society.
